| Sasayama Kanko Ryokan
Home of Tanbayaki. We were only here for an afternoon and pouring down rain. Our travels were limited but we had a wonderful time at the Kanko Ryokan and strolling around the city. Sasayama is noted for its “boar” meat and of course we had to try some. I forget what the “stew” was called but along with some good Japanese beer and sake we had a great meal. Everyone at Kanko was delightful and even though no English is spoken or understood we were able to communicate through pictures…some drawings were pretty comical! Sasayama is also noted for its chestnuts and there were many vendors and shops offering their baked goods with a serving of green tea. Even in the heavy rain it was a memorable afternoon and evening.
