Okiyama

We left Sasayama and headed south to Okiyama, Bizen country. Our main objective was to stay in Okiyama and commute to Kurashiki, a ten-minute train ride. Here are just a few images of Okiyama

Kurashiki

Arriving at Kurashiki we headed out the front of the station and took a left through a shopping area where I found something for my wife Judy. Always on the lookout for folk crafts which I knew she would enjoy. I found a little store which had wooden life size insects carved in the greatest detail. I received points for this one! We eventually ended at the beginning of the historic district whose name eludes me. So beautiful. It was a perfect sunny day, about 70 deg and a slight breeze. Shop doors were open and believe me we went in every one of them. So many pots, so little money. One of the most beautiful places we had the good fortune to visit.

Kurashiki Folkcraft Museum

The museum is located in the canal area overlooking the willow and pine trees. A wonderful museum not to be missed. A nice museum shop as well.
